Regular Classes

Stripey Socks Drama offers a unique, fun and well-structured blend of drama and movement to explore a huge array of subjects, relevant and stimulating for children.

Each session is based around objects found in Stripey the Bird’s box, using these items the children become involved in role play, improvisation, scene building, story telling, mime, dance and art.

Sessions are very much prepared with all individual participants in mind and subjects are chosen and adapted to suit the needs and interests of those children, this encourages each child to take an active part in all activities, therefore getting the very most out of their time at Stripey.

Abbey is committed to (and really enjoys) getting to know each child that attends Stripey and is constantly developing new ways to involve every child. Sometimes professional actors and musicians are employed to add colour and excitement to sessions.

An important aspect of Stripey Socks Drama is the encouragement of all children to be confident and able in a group situation, they are hugely supported in this. An environment is created where children can feel at ease and part of the action, whatever stage they are at. Children come into the session, without parents or carers, and the group are encouraged to become sensitive to the needs of one another, children help to settle newer, perhaps younger members of the group. As session’s progress and confidence is gained, children’s observation, listening and communication skills develop in tandem with technical voice and movement skills.

The sessions provide the discipline of theatre without the pressure of performance, this allows for a more personalised, creative approach. As imaginations are fueled, the drama develops and children’s ideas take the lead.

Each term a report is given out to parents and carers describing our term’s theme and detailing what we have been doing in each session. The report includes a short section about how your child is getting along in the class.

Regular sessions are held during
term time and cost:
£8 per child, per session.

The first class is payable on the door but all classes thereafter are payable in advance of each half of term. If this poses a problem, please contact Abbey as some kind of weekly (or other) arrangement could be discussed.

Places are limited and can only be secured with payment of the half term’s fees (and the completion of the registration form issued at the first session attended, this form will need to be completed again only if changes to any of the information occur during your child’s time at Stripey). Fees are due on the first day back after each half of term, places cannot be held without registration and payment. There is no registration/membership fee.

If for any reason you cannot attend a number of sessions, please contact Abbey to avoid your place being given away, refunds cannot be given and missed weeks must be paid for.
