important aspect of Stripey Socks Drama
is the encouragement of all children to
be confident and able in a group situation,
they are hugely supported in this. An
environment is created where children
can feel at ease and part of the action,
whatever stage they are at. Children come
into the session, without parents or carers,
and the group are encouraged to become
sensitive to the needs of one another,
children help to settle newer, perhaps
younger members of the group. As sessions
progress and confidence is gained, childrens
observation, listening and communication
skills develop in tandem with technical
voice and movement skills.
The sessions provide the discipline of
theatre without the pressure of performance,
this allows for a more personalised, creative
approach. As imaginations are fueled,
the drama develops and childrens
ideas take the lead.
Each term a report is given out to parents
and carers describing our terms
theme and detailing what we have been
doing in each session. The report includes
a short section about how your child is
getting along in the class.
